About Me:

My name is Dane Scott. I am an 18-year-old who lives in Norcross, Georgia currently racing in USF Juniors, part of the USF Pro Championship. In 2023, the F4 US Championship was my entry into the competitive scene of American motorsports. A couple of years ago, I decided I wanted a career in racing. Unfortunately, Covid put those plans on hold. In early 2022 I began to research how to enter into motorsports. I got a trainer, and we began preparing for my first time in a Formula racecar. In August of 2022, I tested for the first time with Jay Howard Driver Development. As soon as I got behind the wheel of the Formula 4 car, I knew that motorsports was a fit for me. Finishing 3rd in 2 out of the 6 races, and 5th overall, in the 2023 Yacademy Winter Series, I made a strong first impression. I then went on to compete at NOLA Motorsports Park, Road America, and Mid- Ohio in the 2023 F4 US Championship. Having never driven racing karts or any type of racing machine, I was quite nervous going into the season. Even though I was a rookie, I showed my competence in the car, racing ahead of veterans of the sport. In June of 2023, I was offered a seat at Road America in the Jay Howard USF2000 car. This was my first race in the car and I showed significant pace, again, leaving the experienced drivers in my mirrors. My natural gift for motor sports continues to grow with each experience, bringing me closer to my goal of a career in INDYCAR.

The Team:

I currently race for the Jay Howard Driver Development team. This team is based out of the racing capital of America, Indianapolis. The team owner, Jay Howard, is a retired IndyCar driver. He competed in IndyLights for 3 years. After this, he moved onto IndyCar for 5 years. With the experience of racing an IndyCar behind his back, Jay Howard gives first-hand knowledge to all his drivers. This gives them a competitive advantage over the field that allows the team to succeed. The team covers most of the Road to Indy ladder as they have Formula Four, USF 2000, and IndyPro 2000 cars. In 2020, they won the USF 2000 championship. The Jay Howard Driver Development team won the IndyPro 2000 championship in 2021. In 2022, the team won the US Forumla Four championship. I choose this team because it is clearly the best option on the grid.
